The first opportunity of major international account
management was entrusted to me because of my strong report
writing skills, my previous involvement in and dedication to
Quality, and my Spanish linguistic abilities.
To supply knitted-dotted gloves as an automotive
component (to be included with tire jacks) required
extensive ISO 9002 style of (FMEA) documentation of our
company's manufacturing processes and process controls. I
was given the instructions to utilize whichever resources
were necessary to successfully provide the required
information to ensure commencement of shipping the goods: I
investigated and learned the related processes thoroughly
and successfully achieved this task within the time
allotted..
These gloves are unlike any solid material automotive
components. Specifications called for allowable level of
standard deviation, thus it was my role to negotiate
increased variances to respect the nature of the glove with
both our Spanish Customer and our Production, Quality and
Management.
There were several times when I had to address and define
acceptable corrective action measures. Armed with a computer
translation program I would prepare by knowing the words and
phrases I was seeking and potential responses. In this
manner we were able to communicate successfully with the
Customer.
This sales and account management environment was very
much living the ISO 9002
concept.
