To fully understand this
challenge to detoxify and
make eco-clean our environments, we
believe that the sum parts of the equation, that has brought us
to our current toxic predicaments, must be dissected and
studied. As a problem can be defined as being the
difference between where we are now and where we want to be,
let us begin with understanding the "now" and and the
"history" of what has led us to this predicament. |

I am very green at all this - pun intended, with the double pun
of the desire to become indeed this - and as such on behalf of

Understanding
Toxins and their effect on Environmental Illness and Chemical Sensitivity

Now that we know the "truth"
("the truth doesn't lie") lets us look at as many
raw materials we can think of: raw
materials that are used in the production of goods and
services which may or may not result in harmful VOC
(volatile organic compounds) emissions.
We want to brainstorm continuously - always
searching and sifting through data to enhance our
understanding. Please
share with us your brainstorming ideas and help
shine the eco-light to others. All ideas, as with this style of
preparation, are of value. With the information
we can ensure that what we build anew or retrofit
will indeed make a brick-by-brick difference to our quality of
life for generations to come. |

OSHA
and NIOSH are government
bodies that regulate the use of toxins and hazardous goods in our
society. These sites as well as
Health Canada and WHMIS also
provide extensive information.
Now one might say, "I have no clue
to manipulating and analysing data as I am not scientifically
oriented" or "I am not good at researching and thinking creatively
because I am administratively-oriented.". The reason
not to will always be there - just like the reason to do it will also
exist. If you have read this far then you most probably agree
that actions need to be taken. We have to pool our knowledge
and skills: not the scientific-mind that you would like to be
- network under the umbrella of this good cause with someone who is.
It is amazing the information one can acquire. As a short
example of this I recently conducted an air quality sampling looking
specifically for acetone levels. Everything went well until
it came to applying scientific conversions: I worked those
numbers and while I was able to see the variance levels, the final
tallies didn't cross the finish line. Amazing it is because
the person I submitted this report to, acknowledging the limitation
of course, was, with their scientifically-oriented mind, immediately
able to translate from the data into successful and
presentable findings. This is proof that no matter how
insurmountable things may appear to be, when you believe you can do it,
you have a greater chance of success. |
